Bunaken National Park Fee sees no increase

The Bunaken National Park Entrance Fee for 2007 has not been increased and is fixed as follows: Rp 50,000 per daily ticket (approximately US$6) or Rp 150,000 (approximately US$18) for an annual entrance Park Tag. Tags (or tickets) must be carried at all times within park boundaries. The tags can easily be affixed to your diving or snorkelling gear or on backpacks.

The entrance fee system has been adapted from the well-known Bonaire Marine Park system, and the proceeds from the sales of the entrance tags are managed by the Bunaken National Park Management Advisory Board (BNPMAB), a multi-stakeholder board that NSWA is a member of. The system has been very successful in raising over $250,000 for conservation programs in the Bunaken Marine Park since its inception in 2001.

Aggressor Fleet Celebrates 23 Years of Live-Aboard Diving

On November 17, 1984, a 100-ft., 16 passenger live-aboard dive yacht cruised into Georgetown Harbor, Grand Cayman.

The Cayman Aggressor, which offered divers a revolutionary way of diving and innovation amenities such as private staterooms and on-board E-6 processing, raised eyebrows in the local and international diving communities. Now, twenty three (23) years, eleven (11) destinations, twelve (12) live-aboards later, Aggressor Fleet continues to turn heads by meeting the diving world’s needs with its original revolutionary style.

Today’s divers have greater expectations, and Aggressor gladly accepts their challenges with the latest conveniences. The newest Aggressors offer personal comforts such as hot tubs, staterooms with private baths, individual climate controls and DVD players, on-board computer stations for e-mailing and digital scanning, satellite phones, defibrillators, digital cameras/housings for underwater photography and the list goes on.

Through Dive The World you can dive on Fiji Aggressor I , Fiji Aggressor II , and North Sulawesi Aggressor

Whale Shark Visits Lankayan Island

The newly refurbished resort in the island paradise of Lakayan entertained a most welcome visitor yesterday when a beautiful whale shark swung by to say hello.

Whale sharks are common at this time of year and this one was enjoying its time at South Rock which is about 3 minutes boat ride from Lankayan Jetty.

As the island resident marine biologist predicted upon sighting it yesterday, they anticipate that the whale shark will most likely pass the same site today. True enough; a second sighting of whale shark was recorded today (3rd May 2007) at approximately 12.15 noon at the same site (South Rock); again witnessed by guest divers and snorkellers who wasted not time rushing to the site upon being alerted.
